Properties:

An adapter which provides facilities for joining two or more fiber optic connectors, which design or functions will not normally warrant their junction. It is not designed for permanent attachment to a fiber optic cable. The physical shape of a fiber optic connector should not be the determining factor of its name. Tee, angle, straight, and y-shaped adapters are all adapter (3), connector, fiber optic.
